Kayak-Canoe Club of Csepel

The Kayak Canoe Club of Csepel has been an important center of Hungarian kayak-canoe life for decades for competition and recreational kayaking as well.

As one of the most beautiful club in Hungary, the club is a center for training of camps of flat water kayaking and an ideal starting point for water tours on the river of Ráckeve-Danube.

Ráckeve- Soroksár- Danube

Thanks to its special natural feature, Csepel has become one of the most important venues for Hungarian kayaking-canoeing. This is where the Danube branches off into the main river and the Ráckeve- Soroksár- Danube, thereby forming Csepel Island. Then further south, at Tass, the two branches reunite and the Danube continues its long journey all the way to the Black Sea. Csepel has a long tradition of kayaking, and many of our Olimpians and world champions started their sporting careers here. At the boat house in Csepel you can get on the water and paddle around the river section with its floating sudds, managed shorelines and wonderful natural treasures as part of a one-day or longer tour. Set off in good time to get the most out of your water tour around Csepel Island, and discover the unique settlements on its Danube banks!

Kayak-Canoe Club of Csepel

The calm and slow-flowing river is ideal for beginners and provides excellent conditions for preparing professional kayakers as well.

Many Olympics winners and world champions were members of the Csepel kayak-canoe club: Rita Kőbán, Csaba Horváth, György Kolonics, György Kozmann, Tamás Kiss, Ákos Vereczkei…and many more.

György Kolonics Promenade in front of the Club

The promenade, named after the Olympic champion canoeist Gyögy Kolonics, stretches for nearly 5 kms south of the Gugacsi Bridge, on the banks of Ráckeve Danube. In front of the bronze statue of this canoeing legend, we can pay our respect and relax on the promenade in a tranquil natural setting, watching the flight of waterfowl and the gentle glide of kayaks and canoes.
